One of the largest and most authoritative structural divisions of the United Nations, the Children's Fund, celebrates its 75th anniversary. Throughout these decades, UNICEF has been helping children in need around the world, defending children's rights to survive, thrive and reach their full potential. Around the world, presidents, ministers, government officials and UNICEF representatives have joined forces with children and young people to mark this important milestone in the history of the United Nations Children's Fund. Turkmenistan joined the global celebration of the 75th anniversary of UNICEF by participating in various events and joining a number of global initiatives involving the Government, the population, former and current UNICEF team members and youth.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of UNICEF, Turkmenistan joined the global #GoBlue campaign, illuminating the Berkarar shopping and entertainment center in blue along with many attractions around the world, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Victoria Falls Bridge in Zimbabwe, the Empire the state building in New York and many others. In addition, residents of Ashgabat and velayats were able to feel the festive spirit by seeing the UNICEF anniversary logo on large screens across the country. This initiative aims to mark 75 years of UNICEF's continuous work for every child in the world and to demonstrate the Government of Turkmenistan's support for the noble mandate of UNICEF.
Another global initiative that Turkmenistan joined was the first Global Forum for Children and Youth (CY21), organized by UNICEF around the world. During the event, the representative of Turkmenistan, young SDG ambassador and eco-activist Lyala Bayrieva joined more than 230 speakers from more than 80 countries. The Turkmenistan segment was aimed at sharing the country's successful experience in integrating the climate change adaptation curriculum into primary and secondary education and increasing the resilience of the youth of Turkmenistan to the effects of climate change. During the event, UNICEF partners reaffirmed over 100 commitments to accelerate the achievement of results for children and youth.
This year, UNICEF, together with the Government of Turkmenistan, took part in the worldwide celebration of the 75th anniversary of protecting children's rights and helping children to reach their full potential. And on December 11, on its birthday and on the eve of International Day of Neutrality, UNICEF signed thirteen work plans and one Memorandum of Understanding with fourteen national partners for 2022. In accordance with the signed work plans, UNICEF will expand the framework of cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan to achieve better results in the interests of children and families, taking into account the expected results of the Country Program for the period 2021-2025.
As Mohammad Fayazi noted, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan UNICEF was one of the first UN agencies to start working in newly independent Turkmenistan.
