Employees of the Center of technologies of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, National institute of deserts, flora and fauna and Khazar state natural reserve of the State committee of Turkmenistan on environment preservation and land resources have taken part in researches of northern and seaside part of nature protection zone.
Scientific-practical researches are based on interdepartmental arrangement on cooperation and are aimed at data collection on geobotany and estimation of biodiversity condition, which after processing by means of geographical information systems or GIS-technologies, will lay under a basis of preliminary electronic card of the modern territory of reserve, where borders of ecosystems, as well as habitat areal of various kinds of flora and fauna will be geographically displayed. Samples of soils, the herbarium and a photographic material have been gathered simultaneously. This is a beginning of large teamwork, which will be continued on other sites of the reserve in future.
As the participant of expedition, senior research assistant of the laboratory of geographical information systems of the Center of technologies of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, candidate of technological sciences Kakabay Annaniyazov has told, at present GIS-technologies are used worldwide for study and rational use of natural resources, in the interests of power energy, town-planning, transport complex, meteorology and climatology, forestry and agriculture. Already now, it is possible to solve a range of problems in the field of study of remote territories, dataware of prospecting geological works, ecological certification of various objects, formation of land and wood cadasters, drawing up of 3D models of depths.
Cooperation of experts of the laboratory of GIS-technologies of the Center of technologies is more closely interfaced both, in fundamental and high school science, as well as industrial sector of the national economy. Cooperation with scientists-botanists of the Institute of biology and herbal life of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, within the frameworks of which geobotanical researches of extensive pasturable territories round the “Altyn Asyr” Turkmen lake is being conducted already for two years. With application of space monitoring geotechnical researches of environmental condition, transformed by human in the course of economic activities.
