Last Sunday on the eve the sacred for all Muslims month Oraza, the ceremony of putting into exploitation of maternity hospital built by the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took place in Turgundy settlement in Herat province of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
As it was highlighted by the Leader of the Nation during session of the Cabinet of Ministers held on June 3, the construction and opening of this medical facility is the evidence of creative foreign policy taken by Turkmenistan, based on the principles of peacefulness, good neighbourhood and permanent humanitarian values. Noting the symbolical character of the fact that this event falls on beginning of Oraza month – special period of time for noble deeds and good initiatives, the President of the Country emphasized that our country will continue render every kind of support to the fraternal Afghan people in consolidation of principles of peaceful life and social and economic development of Afghanistan.
In accordance with Resolution of the Head of the State, the humanitarian aid cargo was sent to the neighbouring country for provision of new medical facility with appropriate products, medicines, and other medical supplies. The cargo handed over free of charge by the request of the Turkmen Leader, was delivered by special motorcade.
To arrange the work of this medical facility, the team of doctors and nurses for training of local personnel was sent according to the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Herat province of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Thus, Turkmenistan took new maternity hospital under its care.
The opened medical facility includes reception, functional diagnostics, antenatal, delivery and postnatal rooms, surgery sector, modern laboratory and administrative part.
As it was mentioned by the participants of the ceremony – the Hyakim of Herat province, the Minister of Health of IRA, the employees of Turkmenistan Consulate in this province, the initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, his policy of peace and openness serve to consolidate friendship relations of two neighbouring countries which people are tied by age-old brotherhood and consanguinity. The participants said that another act of good will became one more vivid example of stability of tradition of friendship and good neighbourhood.
It was mentioned that Turkmenistan takes an active part in peaceful revival of Afghanistan, realistically favouring to its social and economic growth. While being the closest neighbour of Afghanistan, our country carries out the range of the projects within the frameworks of current bilateral agreements. Supporting Afghan people in its urge towards peaceful and successful life, Turkmenistan supplies Afghanistan with electric power and liquefied gas at reduced cost, builds the facilities of social in particular medical and educational purpose, provides assistance in youth education and personnel training.
The stand of Turkmenistan on stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan was clearly stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov from the high rostrum of the United Nations Organization: “The settlement of the situation in the fraternal state is possible only by peaceful, political and diplomatic measures on the basis of wide national dialog. In this context our country is willing to render all necessary assistance to the world society”.
