The international organizations, above all, the United Nations agencies appreciates opening of a new maternity hospital in the Afghan Toraghundi village of Herat province, built on the funds donated by the Turkmen people. In particular, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan Oyunsaikhan Dendevnorov in the interview states:
The Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF are working within the framework of a new country program for 2016-2020 years. The first year of the country program began with a positive note; adoption of national normative base, including education standards and a national concept of developmental paediatrics.
On behalf of UNICEF, I would like to note that the international efforts of the Government of Turkmenistan the implementation of children's rights to a full and decent life, education and health care. We appreciate the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for building maternity house in Toraghundi village of Herat province of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
As the UN agency which aims to protect children's rights, we are very pleased that now mothers in Afghanistan have the opportunity to give birth healthy children in a safe and supportive environment of the new and well-equipped maternity hospital, which was donated by the Government of Turkmenistan to the people of the neighboring state. We highly appreciate the humanitarian assistance provided by the Government and the friendly people of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
In addition to the maternity hospital, it was donated and built for the fund provided by the Turkmen nation for the residents of Herat province the following: a school, House of Health, medical supplies, food and other humanitarian aids. We are convinced that the creation of favorable conditions for adequate development and education of Afghan children makes an important contribution not only to the prosperity of the Afghan people, but also to peace and stability of the entire region.
Social facilities will create new jobs which are beneficial for social status of provincial residents. We hope that medical specialists in Turkmenistan who were trained on early childhood education in accordance with international standards will pass onto their experience and knowledge to Afghan counterparts. We hope for further fruitful cooperation in advance training in childcare of Turkmen and foreign experts.
Taking the opportunity, I would like to congratulate President and the Government of Turkmenistan on successful implementation of peaceful foreign policy, aimed at stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. UNICEF supports the multifaceted efforts of Turkmenistan to create optimal conditions for all-round development of children and intends to develop effective dialog in the implementation of regional programs.
