Ashgabat holds a-three day training for the representatives of national mass media

Training workshop on preparation of multimedia reports organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. The participants of the training are employees of the central, regional and departmental publications, Internet resources, television and radio, as well as teachers of the Faculty of International Journalism of the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan under MFA of Turkmenistan.

There are two international experts invited to conduct training- Adviser of International News Agency "Russia today", professor of the faculty of media, communications and design of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics", Oleg Dmitriev and President of the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Lithuania, Member of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania Dainius Radzevicius.

The theme of the training includes a wide range of issues of professional interest. Turkmen journalists will become familiar with the best international practices in preparation of media reports; discuss important issues on modern information environment, and journalism ethics and organization of television and news reports, planning of material and interviews in a multimedia report. The participants of the meeting will exchange views on trends in contemporary journalism and improve practical skills of the participants.

As noted in his speech at the training opening, Acting Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat Radovan Znasik stated that this training was organized in order to assist Turkmenistan to improve professional skills of journalists needed to work in today's multimedia world.

-OBSE attaches great importance to the development of mass media in the context of current realities and welcomes the reforms undertaken by the Government of Turkmenistan on improvement of work of national mass media, - he stressed. - Over the past few years, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabad has established successful cooperation with the Government in this area, including in the development of Turkmenistan's Law on Mass Media, which was adopted in December 2012.

According Radovan Znasik, improvement of the level of journalistic work by promoting of international exchange of experience are the actual conditions conducive for mass media development. Therefore, an important direction of the Centre is to assist professional development of journalists. Over the past few years, the Centre organized a series of practical training courses for current professionals working in electronic, broadcast and print media of Turkmenistan, as well as for students enrolled in this specialty.

During the training course participants expressed desires to continue effective cooperation in this direction.
