Tennis is one of the fastest growing sports in Turkmenistan. This is evidenced by the number of people involved in tennis, tennis clubs, where experienced coaches teach the basics of this "royal" sport. Almost all French kings played tennis. In turn, Charles IX called tennis "one of the noblest, most worthy and healthy exercises that princes and other noble people can do."
In the rapid popularization of tennis in Turkmenistan, a significant role belongs to the Tennis Federation, which, in close cooperation with the International Tennis Federation (ITF), carries out an enormous amount of work in this area.
So, at a recent conference dedicated to the results of the year, the Federation provided the coaching staff, as well as the regions of the country with sports equipment, in particular, 1359 tennis balls, 40 rackets, as well as nets, machines. All this will contribute to the improvement of the national tennis school, the growth of the professionalism of coaches involved in the preparation of future athletes.
It should be noted that in recent years, Turkmen tennis players have shown a decent result in international competitions. Thus, at the Davis Cup competition held in October 2021 in Bahrain for the teams of the 4th group of Asian and Oceanic countries, the national team of Turkmenistan won three winning streaks in a row, losing only to rivals from the UAE team. Despite the fact that the opponents were far from weak, our tennis players managed to provide worthy competition. As a result, the Turkmen team took the first line in their group.
Following the elections to the committees and commissions for the period 2022-2023 of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), Secretary General of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan Eziz Dovletov was elected to the international working group under the President of the ITF for the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup.
Over the past year, the Tennis Federation held 12 domestic competitions, which identified the best and best able to represent the country in world-class tournaments.
The Federation was one of the first to launch the official website, which allowed sports fans to stay up to date with the latest tennis news in the country and the world.
