The traditional meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov with the ambassadors of the CIS member states accredited in Russia took place in Moscow.

The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Batyr Niyazliyev.

According to the press service of the MFA of Russian Federation, the meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.

During the conversation, the main results of multifaceted cooperation in the Commonwealth format in 2021 were summed up, key tasks for the future were outlined, with an emphasis on further strengthening foreign policy coordination in the CIS.

The participants of the meeting also exchanged views on topical international and regional issues.

Earlier, the official representative of the MFA of Russian Federation said that the meeting participants will discuss topical issues on the international agenda, as well as prospects for the development of cooperation. "During the event, it is planned to sum up the results of joint work within the framework of the Commonwealth in the anniversary 2021 year, to discuss key areas of cooperation for the future. The participants will traditionally exchange views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda," added Maria Zakharova.
