These days, students from a number of Turkmen universities are taking part in the first round of the linguistics competition as part of the annual Lomonosov Universiade held by Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The intellectual review provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their knowledge in more than 30 subject areas and traditionally gathers thousands of experts in various sciences - university students from around the world.
Linguistics is one of the popular areas of the Universiade among students. Representatives of universities from our country are participating in it for the fourth time. This year, among the participating universities: Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi, Engineering and Technology University named after Oguzhan, Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov.
Students of the main linguistic university of the country will show knowledge of five languages in this direction. Including English, German, Russian, French, Spanish. Students from two other universities will compete in the Russian language competition.
In the first round, the contestants are tasked with writing a thesis on a modern topic from the field of linguistics in Russian. In small but capacious works, first of all, the relevance, originality, completeness of the disclosure of the topic, the way it is presented is evaluated. Among the abstracts already prepared, student papers on such topics as: "The influence of the Internet on the Russian language", "The use of anglicisms in computer and youth slang", "Feminitives as a linguistic concept in the media sphere", "Modern problems of the Russian language" and others.
Tests of the qualifying stage are held online, the working language of the Universiade is Russian.
The second (final) round of the Universiade includes tasks in different foreign languages, depending on the language direction the participant is speaking in. This stage will take place in the spring of this year, after which the results of the intellectual student competition will be summed up.
It should be noted that students of the above and other Turkmen universities are also preparing to speak in other subject areas of the Universiade.
The winners and prize-winners of the Universiade "Lomonosov" will be awarded diplomas of the corresponding degrees. These guys will also receive benefits when entering universities in the Russian Federation.
Universiade "Lomonosov" is held in order to identify and support talented youth, develop the creative abilities of students, promote their professional growth, attract students to continue their studies in master's and postgraduate studies, increase the performance of talented students at international olympiads and competitions and strengthen ties between Russian universities, CIS countries and far abroad.
