Turkmen football players recognize their rivals in the Youth Asian Cup-2022

The national teams of Uzbekistan, Iran and Qatar became rivals for the team of Turkmenistan following the results of the draw for the youth (U-23) Asian Cup-2022 football held today in the capital of Malaysia. Players born after 1 January 1999 participate in the fifth edition of this tournament.

In the final tournament, which will be held from June 1 to June 19, 2022 in two cities of Uzbekistan - Tashkent and Karshi, 16 teams will compete, divided into 4 groups.

The national team of Turkmenistan with their rivals formed the group "A". The compositions of the rest:

Group B: Australia, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait.

Group C: Republic of Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia.

Group D: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan, Tajikistan.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The schedule of matches of the national team of Turkmenistan will be known later.

Following the results of the final tournament, which is a qualifier, the top three teams will receive the right to represent Asia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Recall, Turkmen football players will perform for the first time in the final stage of the Youth Asian Cup-2022. The wards of the 42-year-old head coach of the national team Ahmed Agamuradov won this right following the results of the qualifying tournament in Amman, during which they lost to their peers from Jordan in the first match - 0:1, in the second they beat the representatives of Palestine - 3:1 and eventually entered the top four the best teams among the runners-up in the qualifying groups.

In total, 41 of the 47 teams that are members of the Asian Football Confederation participated in the qualifying tournament of the Youth Asian Cup 2022.

The current champion of Asia (U-23) is the Republic of Korea.
