Our athletes became winners by total medal count of championship recently held in the capita Olympic village. Representatives of coaching staff and different sport organizations have took part in the event organized by the request of the Head of the State.
The success of Turkmen wrestlers was highly appreciated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who addressed his gratitude and cordial wishes to the athletes during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Leader of the Nation underlined that by suggestion of our country, gyoresh and belt wrestling were included to the programme of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017 in Ashgabat, where same high results are expected from our sportsmen.
It worth reminding that Turkmen masters of belt wrestling took first place in total medal count, having won 46 medals (20 gold, 9 silver and 17 bronze) in Asian championship held in the Martial arts complex of the Olympic village.
Our pal’vans also won Turkmen gyoresh competition (free and classic type) with 48 medals. Thus, out wrestlers won 98 prizes in total during four days of competition where 44 gold, 28 silver and 26 silver medals. This were outstanding result providing Winner Cup contested by around 300 sportsmen from 16 countries to Turkmen athletes.
Besides, the Congress of Asian belt wrestling federation was held during championship in the capital Olympic village where Turkmen gyoresh was included in this organization. From now on, it will be called as Asian gyoresh and belt wrestling federation.
During test competitions, demonstrated preparedness of the facilities for large sport events, such areas as meeting and seeing off the guests, transport provision, accreditation, relation with mass media and television, organization of competition, medical services, catering, security, logistics and management were worked through.
Thus, Asian gyoresh and belt wrestling championship as well as recent Asian sambo championship gave opportunity to assess the preparedness and skills of the personnel and volunteers and promoted professional development of our sport specialists.
