The purpose of the trip was exchange of practices for energy efficiency in living sector. Turkmen delegation included representatives of national partners of the UNDP GEF: Ministry of public services, “Turkmengosporoekt” Institute, State Concern “Turkmengas”.
Belarusian specialists of the UNDP GEF “Enhacement of energy efficiency of living houses in republic of Belarus” project introduced Turkmen colleagues to regulatory base, experience of projecting, construction and exploitation of energy efficient buildings, use of secondary and renewable energy sources in energy provision of living houses, practice of heating modernization of old housing. Meetings with representatives of project organizations of republic of Belarus, house-building plants and public utility and communal services were held during the visit.
Housing construction in Turkmenistan is one of the priority of the state policy. Composite city planning programmes undertaken all over the country aimed at provision of maximum comfort conditions for people’s life. The President of Turkmenistan highlights that work in this direction should become a model in everything, implementing advanced achievements of modern architect, design and engineering technical thoughts and at the same time, reflecting fundamental traditions of national architecture.
“Improvement of energy efficiency in housing construction of Turkmenistan” is undertaken by the government of the country together with the UNDP with financial support of Global Environmental Facility (GEF). The project is similar to project of the UNDP GEF in Belarus and serves the Goals of Sustainable Development.
