The Turkmen team will play for the first time in the AFC Futsal Club Championship, which will be held from 3 to 14 August 2022 in the United Arab Emirates with the participation of champions from 16 countries.

According to the country's Football Federation, the «Denizchi» club from the city of Turkmenbashi will represent Turkmenistan in this prestigious tournament as the current winner of the country's Futsal Super League 2021.

The Futsal Club of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi was founded in 2009, and in 2011 it received the status of a professional club. «Denizchi» has been regularly participating in the championship of Turkmenistan since 2009. Since 2011, 45-year-old Yakub Ovezov has been working with the team as a head coach, under whose leadership «Denizchi» won gold twice (in 2015 and 2021) and silver (in 2014 and 2018) and three times bronze (in 2012, 2019 and 2020) medals of the national championship, twice won the Cup of Turkmenistan (in 2016 and 2018) and once participated in the decisive match for the country's Super Cup (in 2019). According to the results of the last season, Yakub Ovezov was recognized as the best futsal coach in Turkmenistan.

The AFC Futsal Club Championship, in which national champions participate, has been held annually by the Asian Football Confederation since 2010.

The most titled club in the history of the tournament and the reigning champion is the Japanese team «Nagoya Oceans», who won the trophy 4 times.

The rivals of «Denizchi» in the upcoming AFC Futsal Club Championship will be determined during the draw, which will take place on April 14 at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
