International Chemistry Olympiad-2016 held from 23 July to 1 August in Tbilisi was attended by school students from 75 states.
The Georgian capital first time hosts Intellectual forum with almost a 50-year history. The main goal of Olympiad was to increase the interest of school pupils to chemistry sciences, had been held first time in Prague in 1968 since then the event is rotating in different countries of the world by contributing popularization research in the field of chemistry and friendly consolidation of fellows-chemists from various parts of the world.
As a rule, young chemists compete in two rounds- experimental and theoretical ones. International jury consists of heads of national teams. Each country represents no more than four contestants and their mentors.
Senior high school student of specialized school of Ashgabat represent Turkmenistan. Three of them have become bronze prize-winner of Olympiad. This is Oveznepes Orazgeldiyev from State boarding school for especially talented children; Abdyrahman Merdanov and Intizar Tashov are the students of the specialized school №№ 86 и 57 respectively. The team was headed by Perman Roziyev.
The fourth participant of our team is Serdar Begenjov is a student of State Boarding School for especially talented children who cannot reach five points to the awarding place. Young Turkmen chemists were conferred special certificates.
By giving a party in honor of the Olympiad participants, the representatives of Organized Committee underline:”Chemistry is closely connected with our everyday life and economy. You are the generation which will overcome great challenges of our time connected with security, pollution of environment, development of alternative energy, medicine and agriculture”.
As a tradition, Olympiad participants was organized intense cultural –excursion programme having allowed to familiarize with the history and different areas of arts, unique identity of the tradition and modern achievements of Georgian people.
