New book releases for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence

The Magtymguly National Institute of Language, Literature and Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has published 30 new books. Among the publications published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of our country are monographs, dictionaries, books dedicated to the epic and Turkmen folklore, ancient manuscripts, translations and much more.

The rich literary heritage of our people carries a huge spiritual layer of culture and wisdom of our ancestors. By carrying out research work, the staff of the Institute make a significant contribution to a number of other branches of scientific knowledge.

For example, four out of 30 new books are dictionaries. The “Dictionary of the Turkmen language of the VIII-XVII centuries”, “Dictionary of rural and urban names of Turkmenistan” based on sources relating to the IX-XIX centuries was published in three volumes.

An extensive monograph is devoted to the main directions of the development of Turkmen linguistics. Collections of books on Turkmen literature tell about previously unknown writers and poets. The first monograph in Turkmen literature about the life and unique literary heritage of Zahireddin Muhammad Babur was also published.

The series of novelties includes "The Book of My Grandfather Gorkut" (with a recently discovered copy). The unique epic, which has been attracting the attention of the scientific community of the world for 200 years and translated into dozens of foreign languages, reflects the early socio-political system, beliefs, traditions and spiritual states of the ancient Oghuz Turkmens. To date, two copies of the work have been provided to the world scientific community. A third copy of the work was also found, differing in some aspects from the previous two.

On the eve of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen literature Makhtumkuli Fragi, a monograph of the poet's heritage in Karakalpakstan has been published. The paper analyzes the reasons for the appearance of Makhtumkuli on this earth, his popularity in Karakalpakstan, his influence on Karakalpak poetry and literary and scientific aspects of creativity.

The new books of the Ylym publishing house of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have already arrived in bookstores and libraries of higher educational institutions of the country.
