Turkmen Olympic contenders started competitions in judo and boxing

Arslanbek Achilov, master of boxing had his first fight in weight category up to 75 kilogrammes. His competitor was bronze prize winner of European Games – 2015 Zoltan Adam Harcha from Hungary. Both sportsmen were equal but after final bell, referees gave victory to our countryman’s competitor.

Rushana Nurjovova represented our team in judo competitions. In the starting fight up to 57 kg she lost to Karakas Hedvig from Hungary.


Gulnabat Kadyrova will start competing in powerlifting up to 69 kg on August 10. Our compatriot won the right to major competition of the planet during Asian championship held last spring. She became bronze medallist in 95 kg lifting, took fourth place on 110 kg clean-and jerk and entered the six of the best in both categories up to 205 kg.

Another power lifter from Turkmenistan, Hojamuhammed Toychiev will start competitions on August 16. He will have to contest the strongest athletes of the planet in absolute weight category above 105 kg. He also made his way to major event through the competitions of continental level, where he set three national records in 190 kg lifting, 237 clean-and jerk and 427 kg in total count.


Our track and field athlete will also compete Summer Games. Our country is represented by Elena Ryabova who will run in 200 meters sprint. Her personal record in this distance is 24.27 seconds.

Amanmyrat Hommadov, continuer of dynasty of famous Turkmen athletes, will compete in hammer throw. His best personal result is 70.65 meters that he set in the last year country cup competition.
