Turkmenistan participates in the first Asian-African Youth Festival

The forum that brought together representatives of more than 40 countries in Asia and Africa was held on the initiative of Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. The delegation of our country was represented by 10 people, members of Magtymguly Youth Organization. Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the Youth Organization Eziz Gurdov, who led our delegation told:


“The solemn ceremony of opening the festival took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Addressing the forum participants, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping underlined that Africa and Asia, where three fourth of the world population live, were the cradle of human civilization. Speaking during the ceremony, the leader of China expressed belief in that the mutual understanding between the representatives of the younger generation would enrich the international cooperation and would promote mutual understanding and widening relations between the two continents, maintaining peace and stability on the planet”.


“The festival days were rich in communication, performances of artistic groups of the People’s Republic of China and sports competitions. Our delegation had a meeting with the heads of the All-China Youth Federation as well as representatives of other countries. All of them demonstrated keen interest in our country and ambitious social and economic reforms initiated by the leader of the Turkmen state. The youth team from Turkmenistan won the first place in a sports competition. The artistic group of the representatives of our country did interviews and TV spots for the Turkmen youth television channel.


In general, the festival provided the platform for communication and exchange of experience on a wide spectrum of issues important for the young people from Asia and Africa.

International cooperation is an important element of the state youth policy of independent neutral Turkmenistan. The Youth Organization of Turkmenistan established friendly relations with their colleagues from China, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Moldova and Kazakhstan. Various forums and meetings play a significant role in establishing the positive image and strengthening the authority of our country at the international arena, building up long-term cooperation and mutual understanding between the young people, the future of states and the world.


Our country is open for the whole world, and we, youth, are striving to demonstrate the significant achievements of our country gained within the years of independent development and present the unique historical and cultural heritage, rich culture, original traditions and customs of the Turkmen people that promote mutual understanding and mutual respect”.
