A new youth record of Turkmenistan in archery in the age category not older than 15 years old was set at the Ashgabat championship by a student of the 8th grade of secondary school No. 27 Ezizmuhammet Sahedov. In classical archery at a distance of 18 meters, he hit 590 points out of 600 possible, improving by 12 points the previous record set four years ago by Selim Khadzhiev.
Ezizmuhammet began to get involved in archery at a young age. Yes, this is understandable. After all, his father is Vepa Sahedov, chairman of the National Federation of this Olympic sport in Turkmenistan.
- Ezizmuhammet started archery at the age of 7, - Vepa Sahedov told the GA correspondent. - A year later, he excelled among his peers at the national championship. Since 2016, he has been the permanent champion of Turkmenistan in his age group.
There are also medals from international competitions in the collection of 14-year-old Ezizmuhammet. In 2017, at a tournament in Antalya (Turkey), he won gold among archers under 10 years old, and in 2019 at competitions in Istanbul, he won bronze among athletes under 12 years old.
Currently, Ezizmuhammet Sahedov, together with another champion in the age category under 17, Orazdzhemal Meredova, are preparing for the VII Summer International Sports Games "Children of Asia", which will be held from July 27 to August 8, 2022 in Vladivostok.
