Annamammed Annamammedov (Mary velayat) became gold medal winner, having completed final contest with Bayramgeldy Chakanov from Ashgabat team with 5 : 0 score.
Competitions, organized by the State Committee for Sport and National Billiard Federation, gathered around 60 participants form all regions of the country.
Drawing an analogy with previous championships, Chief Referee G. Abasov highlighted that if previously Ashgabat players were absolute favourites, nowadays Mary sportsmen gradually conquers top positions, what is testified by convincing victory of A. Annamammedov. Another representative of that region, Eziz Atayev won the third place.
Another country Billiard Championship in “combined pyramid” discipline will be held in Ashgabat in autumn. Turkmenistan National team will be composed by the results of this tournament, which will participate in World Championship in Kazan (Russian Federation).
Our billiard players have sufficient experience of competitions at international sport arena. For example, team tournament of the planet has been held in the last month in Rostov-on-Don, where Turkmen sportsmen held range of victories over famous masters including current World and European champions. It caused great response in Russian mass media, which noted original manner of play of our compatriots.
Representatives of International Confederation of Pyramid have also highly valued the referring of Gurban Abasov, who served final contest of the world championship as Chief Referee. Currently certificate of award to our compatriot as “Referee of International Category” is under preparation.
But the major contests expect our sportsmen in the next year, when Turkmen capital will host V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which programmes includes billiard.
