The Scientific Conference on “Introduction of geoinformation system into the land development process” was conducted in the conference hall of the Turkmen Agricultural University. The forum organized by the Ministry of Water Industry and the Turkmen Agricultural University brought together leading Turkmen and foreign water industry scientists, experts of scientific and research institutions, and representatives of sectoral ministries and departments, teachers and students of the agricultural universities of our country and journalists.
The intense interest in this forum is based on the urgent issues of using the advanced methods of assessment of lands, international support to efficient use of water resources at the national and transboundary level, use of the geoinformation systems in the agricultural sector, restoration of saline lands, integrated water resources management. The conference participants reported on the measures taken to improve the irrigated lands, the roles and methods of washing saline soils, the stages of introducing geoinformation system technologies into irrigation system management, etc.
Along with Turkmen scientists, the foreign participants of the conference, including the Head of the Project on Water Resources Management in Central Asia of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the international expert of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the Head of the Uzvodremekspluataciya Republic Association of Uzbekistan, etc. made their presentations.
