This year, Turkmenistan chairs the Council, in the framework of the current meeting, a conference holds on agricultural and rural statistics. The representatives of the CIS countries and international organizations attend the forum held in our country.
During the next Council meeting it is discussed issues related to the work of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee for the last period and activities of current organization in 2016, set out a plan for the next year. In addition, it was held conferences on exchange of experiences on issues of methodology and structural research in the field of agriculture, conducted jointly with the UN Organization for Agriculture and Food.
As is know, the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS was formed in February 6, 1992. Its main functions consist of: the definition of areas in the field of statistical cooperation in the framework of CIS; discussions and decisions making on the most important aspects of cooperation on statistics; approval of the work programs of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee and its activity reports; the establishment of relevant bodies and committees to address issues of statistical methodology, the approval of regulations; cooperation with international organizations, consideration of other issues within its authorities.
In today's society, the statistical information represents both the product and the resource, at the same time. By definition, the UN Statistical Commission, the official statistical information is the basis for sustainable development in the economic, demographic, social and environmental fields. In this regard, the official Statistics is the special language of communication between the two countries by means of numbers.
At this forum a special emphasis is made on the issues of the global strategy to improve agricultural and rural statistics in the Region of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the prospects for expansion of information interactions in this type of statistics between the CIS Statistical Committee, the statistical services of the CIS countries and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The work of separate sessions is devoted to the experience of the national statistical services in the organization of the structural and random survey in the agriculture. At the same time representatives of the statistical services actively exchange opinions on further improvement of its work.
As mentioned in the speeches of Turkmen specialists at the present stage of socio-economic development of the country is characterized, above all, stability and the implementation of systematic measures on the basis of evidence-based programs. Continuity of successful achievements of progressive reforms is provided in accordance with the strategic direction of the economic policy pursued by the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It is established a national model of a socially oriented market economy, which is developing into an effective combination with effective government regulation. The integrated solution of these problems and the preparation of comprehensive sound management decisions along with other agencies are making a worthy contribution to the statistical service of our country.
Speaking about the significance of statistics, experts note its importance for the assessment of international cooperation. In this context, it emphasizes that statistical data are widely used in cooperation with international organizations, including the UN and its structural divisions, the International Monetary Fund, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, Organization for Economic Cooperation and others, as well as to build and strengthen bilateral and multilateral trade and economic, scientific-technical and cultural relations.
Tomorrow the 55th meeting of the Council of the heads of the statistical offices of the CIS member countries will continue its work.
