Aydogdy Atabaev, the International Master (VII Dan) and honored coach of Turkmenistan is awarded with special Order of Taekwondo (ITF)

This honoured insignia is awarded for special contribution to development of martial art. Our compatriot devoted his award to the coming momentous event, the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Motherland!

The award ceremony was conducted during juniors and adults world championship held recently in Andria (Italy). Just few followers of Taekwondo on the planet have such Order. They are those who dedicated their lives to study the principles of Korean martial art (philosophy, harmony, fighting style), passed the skills to apprentices and popularize it.


In July of the current year, Aydogdy Atabaev held number of training seminars in five ITF Taekwondo schools of Tokyo (Japan). The specialist and instructor, famous in Asian part of the continent, shared his experience of training, spoke on the achievements of Turkmen school of this martial art, which is currently one of the leading schools in international sport arena.

In the current year, the master also held evaluation test seminars for black belt holders for award of appropriate dans (highest level of skills in martial arts). 19 applications were sent to International Taekwondo Federation in Austria; there are two for the III dan (Gaygysyz Atabaev and Maksat Babaev), one for the II dan (Orazberdy Annamyradov) and 16 applications for the I dan.

It worth mentioning that it was Aydogdy Atabaev who back in 1991 became the founder of taekwondo section in Turkmenistan. After, the schools of Korean martial art appeared in all large cities of our country involving greater number of youth into the world of sport and healthy life style.

During Asian Championship – 2016, national team of Turkmenistan won 20 prizes where four gold, six silver and ten bronze medals. During the last year tournament, dedicated to the founder of taekwondo Choi Hong Hi, our fighters showed the best result having won 19 medals (eight gold, three silver and eight bronze) and became the winners of the Cup.

During the World Championship in Italy, A. Atabaev, having the title of the Judge of the World Class, was a referee of the fights.

Mered Rozyev, the Chairman of Turkmenistan Taekwondo Federation of Turkmenistan informed that currently, national team of Turkmenistan trains for large international tournaments. The World Cup and South Asia Championship will be held in Belarus and Peoples Republic of China accordingly in December. The Central Asia Cup will be contested in the end of the next month in Uzbekistan.
