Head referee of the competition, Referee of International Class, Erkan Tarhan Ahmet from Turkey said that the advantage of tennis courts of Ashgabat indoor complex is a resilience of flooring. It is softer than the one at open courts, what has an effect on rebound of the ball, which lose its initial speed when touching the court. It is very important for the athletes playing under artificial lighting.
“I have seen several similar sport complexes, which entirely meet international standards. For example, indoor courts in Qatar are considered to be the best not only in Asian part of the continent but in the world. However, current competitions prove that tennis courts of the Olympic village in Ashgabat do not yield anything” – foreign referee highlighted.
Today, 1/16 games of boys and girls singles are held at indoor courts of the Olympic village. The tournament will last until September 26.
