The second Caspian media forum was held in Astrakhan on September 22 – 23, where representatives of Turkmenistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan and Russian Federation took part.
For our country, which recently actively consolidates its presence at international grounds including media ones and integrates into common informational space, this forum became one more step in development of professional, diplomatic and human relations, which define the spirit and character of political and economic interrelations, humanitarian cooperation between the states.
With regards to the Caspian states united by the common sea and issues related to it, this vector, bearing huge historical and ethnographic layer, colossal supply of good will of the peoples of the region, its crossing diasporas, is presented today as a main one in establishment of relations with the whole world. This is an aspect where geographical character predetermines the accents of foreign policy of the state. Alexander Jilkin, the Governor of Astrakhan region mentioned in his welcome speech that the Caspian countries, together with development of fishery, transport, oil and gas and tourism spheres, have to protect and preserve unique ecological system of the sea and solve together other important issues.
Turkmenistan has always positioned and continues to position the Caspian as a sea of harmony, friendship and cooperation, having proposed and realized steadfast measures in this direction. However, time always demands new solutions and our country joined the search of most applicable formats, one of which is opened informational dialog.
Channels of partners’ contacts of media societies of the countries of the region. Ways and methods for establishment of mechanism of informational cooperation, its concept, strategy and tactics were reviewed during Caspian media forum, which hosted more than 250 specialists of mass media.
“We are interested in each other. It is very important what other, first of all the neighbours, think of us”, - this thought was repeatedly said during the forum in Astrakhan, indeed the city with many cultures where representatives of more than 100 ethnic groups included the Turkmens live for 200 – 300 years.
Concerning the work of the media forum, its effect has to be reflected in mass media of every participating country, which delegates recognized the necessity of exchange of social and economic, cultural and humanitarian content. In particular, representatives of Turkmenistan gave volumetric vision of our country on perspectives of cooperation of printing, electronic, TV and radio media accounting the agenda of each state.
Decision on expansion of cooperation for including of topical grounds and establishment of scientific and educational platforms in participating countries became one of the outcomes of the media forum. For example, it might be expert communities, schools for young journalists, practical and competence development courses at leading information agencies.
Proposal for conduct of event in each Caspian state, related to different spheres as tourism, education, ecology, was given as well. Besides, the subject of translations and its quality concerning the expansion of foreign languages channels of internet broadcasting was brought up during the forum.
The members of Turkmen delegation also took part in round table discussions on informational policy, internet journalism, training off specialists of mass and business media, application of new technologies.
Summarizing of the results of International Journalists Competition “Caspian Dream – 2016” was held during the forum. “Turkmenistan” magazine with its article “The good of neighbourhood” became one of the prize-winners.
