XI International Book Fair closed in Ashgabat

The forum organized by Turkmen State Publishing Service and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan brought together exhibitors from 19 countries, including Russia, the US, China, the UK, Austria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Albania, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan among others. The delegations of these countries included writers, poets and translators, illustrators, journalists, representatives of large foreign publishing houses.


The numerous colourful stands widely presented the best samples of the children's, educational, non-fiction, information literature, encyclopedias, colorful editions of the classics of the national and world literature, special publications on sports. The book fair showcased the achievements in publishing and printing industries and library sector, advanced technologies and media products.


The issues of strengthening the partnership to train the specialists in this sphere, promote translation practices, librarians’ work and ensure creative exchange were discussed within the framework of the Conference entitled Book is the Path to Cooperation and Progress.

The book fair was rich in bright artistic meetings, master classes, round-tables and discussions as well as presentation of new publications. The colourful works of Turkmen and foreign painters and illustrators, which make publications more expressive and picturesque, aroused keen interest among the guests to the exhibition.


Guests were able to personally assess the rapid paces of development of the book industry in our country. Today, this industry using the most advanced publishing technology, significantly contributes to the multi-faceted work aimed at preserving and enriching the cultural heritage, enhancing human capital and intellectual potential of the country.
