Teachers of the International University of Humanities and Development are familiarized with the trends of development of modern journalism

Teaching on key aspects of the training of future journalists are held by an international expert in media, communication and social culture, a lecturer of the faculty of the International Journalism of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University Anton Gumensky.


The purpose of the seminar, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, is to promote the exchange of experience in the field of teaching and modernization of academic curricula for journalism departments at the Turkmen universities. Together with teachers of the International University of Humanities and Development, the training participants consisted of their colleagues from Institute of International Relations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, and National Institute of Sports and Tourism.

The seminar focused on media projects of students, peculiarity of teaching online journalism, problems of formation of critical thinking, social and psychological characteristics of students, as well as issues on the development of online journalism in the modern world and the principles of work of a reporter online.


The final part of the seminar was devoted to the development of freedom of speech module. As you know, in January 2016, Turkmenistan adopted the National Action Plan on human rights for 2016-2020. In the context of its implementation it is planned to develop a training course on freedom of expression for journalism students.
