This international holiday established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 1979. Every year it is dedicated to a specific topic. This year's motto is "Tourism for all - promoting universal access to tourism."
Following this tradition, the mountaineering club "Agama" organizes a mass climbing in the high-altitude heat in the third phase of the Cup of Turkmenistan in the discipline "skyrunning" the peak Harlasang (the height 1643 m) in the town Gokdere. The event is organized with the support of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sport and the Khyakimlik of Archabil district of the capital city. Participants of the mountain heat went the distance - from the Children's Health Center "Nebitchi" to the top Harlasang. Over 70 people between the ages of 8 and 65 years attended the mass mountain climbing. During the climbing, the beginners- climbers could see how experienced athletes move along the path performing a high-speed race to the top. In accordance with the rule of the third phase of the skyrunning Cup the distance of five kilometers with a difference of heights from start to finish in more than a thousand meters needs to be covered.
The fastest climber who managed to climb vertical kilometer has overcome, thus, determines the experienced climbers as Maxim Gordienko (14 years) who is a student of secondary school №15. The second at a distance was an engineer Annamamedov Arslan, the third - the entrepreneur Alekper Ahmedov. Winners have passed the distance in less than one hour (respectively - 56:00, 59:35 and 59:55 minutes), having improved its last year's results. The youngest participant of the race is the 8th year old Sergey Ivlev who reaches the peak in 1 hour and 58 minutes managed to be on time.
Among women, the best result shown the student Anastasiya Tatarenko (1:26:00 hours) of the school №1, the second place is a teacher at a special school Nadezhda Kostova (1:26:20 hours), the third place is the student of secondary school № 19 Emin Serdarov - (1:41:02 hours). 25 people managed to climb in the set time.
Turkmenistan holds the Skyrunning Cup regularly in several stages. This year is planned to hold two more stages of the Cup, and in the mountains of the Greater Balkhan will be hold the national championship in sport climbing, which will be attended by the capital team, as well as representatives of the Akhal, Balkan and Lebap regions.
