The brightest and the most memorable sports activities taken place last week were the events with participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, including motor racing on the race circuit at the Ashgabat Stadium.

Chairman of the National Center for Motor Sports of Turkmenistan Gulmyrat Agamyradov shares his impressions:

“Participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the motor racing taken place within the framework of the programme of sports events dedicated to the World Health Day aroused a storm of positive emotions among Turkmen racing drivers. They had the honor to take part in the motor racing together with the Turkmen leader. The bright performance of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who demonstrated high professionalism in driving the car and took a decisive victory in drift events, produced an unforgettable impression.

Due to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in line with his Resolution, the National Center for Motor Sports was created in our country in 2009. Since the moment the new page in the history of development of the national motor sports has opened.

On the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, the Silk Road Rally was held in 2009. Several Turkmen teams successfully participated in the rally. I took part in the event as a pilot of an emergency service vehicle. I can say that our sportsmen demonstrated good results in spite of the fact that they participated in the most difficult racing for the first time.

In 2011 the Turkmen team took part in the Silk Road Rally from Moscow to Sochi. It is notable that standing the severe tests and overcoming thousands of kilometers of lack of roads, our crew, including pilot Sh. Gurbanov and navigator A. Musaev driven the Nissan Patrol Jeep won the prize place in the T-2.1 category.

Successfully participating in the international competitions, our racing drivers gain experience and confidence in their efforts. In the near future, Turkmen racing drivers will take part in the 2012 Silk Road Rally, which route will run starting from Moscow to Gelendzhik. Our sportsmen regularly train in the Karakum Desert.

Turkmen racing drivers have been inspired with the fact that the Turkmen leader gifted 16 sports cars, including Volkicar, Bugatti Veyron, Mitsubishi, and Renault racing cars to them.

On the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov such a popular motor sport as drift has started developing in Turkmenistan. This is one of the most spectacular and difficult types of racing. A special racetrack for drift events was built near the Ashgabat Stadium. Our esteemed President winning a decisive victory in the drift events demonstrated a personal example of achieving the new heights of mastership in the name of increasing the authority of the national sport.

Our future plans include the further development and improvement of various races and all necessary conditions have been created in our country to achieve this task.

Our main goal now is to increase the participation of our athletes in international competitions in motor racing. I would like to assure the President of Turkmenistan and our people that the Turkmen racing drivers would apply every effort to justify the Turkmen leader's concern about development of the national motor racing, and to achieve worthy results at the international sports arena”.
