A new issue of the quarterly journal «Ecological Culture and Environmental Protection» is appeared in print

A series of articles of the new issue of the popular science magazine, produced under the auspices of the State Committee for Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan on environment and land resources, open publication of the meeting of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, which was held in Ashgabat in late May of this year. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of our country in the ISDC in 2015-2016, the concept of which is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in matters of environmental issues.

The participants are highly appreciated the position of Turkmenistan, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to resolving global problems, pays great attention to the careful and rational use of natural resources.

One of the articles of the new issues devotes to increase interest in recent years of travelers within the territory of our country's archaeological monuments and natural sites explorations for geologists, mineralogists and biologists. Karst caves of Koytendag are one of it. Here it is concentrated of the largest number of caves discovered, as well as promising research places. Beauty, the richness of karsts mineralogy of Koytendag is stories about the most researched cave system of Kapkutan is dedicated to one of the publications that contains rich illustrative material.


Koytendag is the land with rich geological, paleontological and sacred monuments. Here, the prospects of tourism infrastructure development are taken into consideration stresses the head of state, who visited Koytendag in 2011 and initiated the preparatory work for the inclusion of unique natural objects of Koytendag in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The author of the publication of the caves notes that such creation is also found in the foothills of the Greater and Lesser Balkhan in Karabil, Kopetdag, Badkhyz the territory and Takhtabazar district and the Kaplankyr state nature reserve of the State Committee on Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan on environment and land resources. Caves Jebel, Gail, Damdam-Cesme on Balkhanov also known as a place of ancient people of the Stone Age sites. A cave Kow-ata in the Central Kopetdag with underground lake is attractive for development speleo- tourism.

Following publication is dedicated to the pearl of Badkhyz – Eroylanduzu means "salty, sank land." Trench depth is 500 meters, and its area is 300 square kilometers. Once it was mined table salt and exported for sale in Khorezm, Iran and Afghanistan. Geological discovery of the local topography allows researchers to extract from the ground almost fossil specimens of fossil flora and fauna. Here the remains of bones of fossil giraffe, antelope teeth were found fragments of ostrich eggs. Exploring the findings, the researchers found that in the eastern part of Badkhyz in a hollow near the well Kagyzlysuydzhi lived long-clawed ground squirrel, great gerbil and jerboas.

The topic of the next publication is protecting rare fauna, namely - saiga conservation, restoration and the number of habitats which involved scientists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, China and our country, as well as representatives of international environmental organizations.

Attention of readers, with no doubt, will attract informative articles about the natural resources of the Western Turkmen lowland, where the steep, colorful painted kyry and chinki, are transferred into the valley plain, creating extraordinarily beautiful landscapes. The authors of publications disclose the value of these places in view of geology. Here, in the southern part of the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea are located 500 active magma volcanoes and mud. The article contains a detailed story of the mud volcanoes of Turkmenistan: Chikishlyar, Tuynukli, Akpatlavuk, Pink Porsugel, the history of their discovery, and mineral composition.
