President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to consider the creation of a business format "Central Asia - Russia". The head of state said this, speaking on Friday at the first summit "Central Asia - Russia" in Astana.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that within the framework of the six-party cooperation the most important priority is the economy, where there are large perspectives. According to him, the most promising areas are as energy, industrial cooperation, textile production, agro-industrial complex, logistics, new technologies and regional trade.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed: "It is necessary to stimulate the business communities of our countries to more close partnership. Perhaps you should initiate the creation permanently operating business format "Central Asia + Russia", during which would consider various aspects of trade and economic cooperation".
In his opinion, the creation in the territories of countries of Central Asia and Russia modern transport and transit and communication systems through the construction of an extensive transport and transit infrastructure, covering expanses of continental Eurasia with access to the World Ocean.
"Turkmenistan believes that it is necessary to focus on maximum realization of the potential that opens up before the states Central Asia and Russia in the context of transport optimization flows in the Eurasian space," the head of state stressed.
According to him, in this context, the activation of operation of the North-South transport corridor: from Russia through the Central Asia to sea terminals in the Indian Ocean.
President Berdimuhamedov said: "Turkmenistan as a country on the territory of which is provided the shortest route to the Persian Gulf, to the ports of Iran and from there to India, is ready to start implementing this project".
