International junior powerlifting competitions, which gathered more than 350 athletes from 76 countries including Turkmenistan, was held in Penang (Malaysia).

Azat Serdarov, (weight category up to 94 kg), the representative of our national team won silver medal. Having lifted 149 kg and made 181 kg in clean and jerk, he gained 330 kg totally.

This sport is included to the programme of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in September of the next year in Ashgabat. Thus performance of Turkmen athletes are considered as important stage of preparation for this complex competitions.
