Ashgabat hosts the first open championship on ice hockey among youth up to 16 years old and children of 2005-2008 years old on the ice arena of the City Sports Complex of the Winter Games. The competition will take parts eight teams in six months of which are expected to compete for medals in several stages by a round-robbin play.


The skaters from the City Sports School of the State Committee on Sports performed at the opening ceremony of the hockey tournament. After two preliminary rounds three teams became leaders, such as: "Shir", "Oguzkhan" and "Galkan HC", which, according to experts are competing with each other the whole set of awards.


The main purpose of this competition is to attract young people to the sport and the formation of new teams.

In accordance with the results of the tournament a preliminary national team will be generated.
