Turkmenistan’s initiatives on development of transit and transport corridors discussed during the meeting in Constanta, Romania

The round-table meeting in Constanta, Romania focused on the forthcoming Global Sustainable Transport Conference to be held in Ashgabat. The meeting organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania and Constanta port administration brought together the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport of Romania, the diplomatic corps, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Constanta, Silk Road Association, the heads of transport structures, in particular, the CFRMarfa National Rail Freight Company among others.

As is known, Constanta ranks among the four big ports in Europe. The delegation of the International Port of Turkmenbashi arrived in Romania to represent our country at the meeting. By tradition, Turkmen students, who receive their education in the higher educational institutions in Romania within the framework of intergovernmental agreements, attended the meeting.


The meeting participants discussed the key aspects of the logistics strategy initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the transit potential of Turkmenistan as well as multimodal transport infrastructure. The exchange of views on the significance of the Turkmen leader’s initiatives on the global strategy of cooperation.

The video presentations on the history and development of the International Port of Turkmenbashi and Constanta Sea Port in Romania took place during the meeting. Those taken part in the meeting also specified the priorities of cooperation.
