In the near future, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay an official visit to Tajikistan. It is expected that during the visit, the President will hold a series of bilateral talks, which will discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

On the eve of the visit, a business forum of entrepreneurs of the two countries, as well as the first meeting of the Business Council of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, will be held in Dushanbe. About 100 Turkmen entrepreneurs and experts will take part in the business forum. The main goal of the forum is to search for new partners and strengthen economic cooperation. Experts call transport, cargo transportation and the use of transit corridors of Turkmenistan promising areas of partnership. There is no doubt that the visit will be another step towards strengthening the positions of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan as friendly states ready for all-round cooperation.

Tajikistan is one of the states of Central Asia, with which Turkmenistan has common historical, cultural and spiritual roots, as well as established traditions of good neighbourly relations. Our countries have been linked by ties of brotherhood and good neighbourliness since ancient times. Today, relations between countries have risen to a qualitatively new strategic level. The regular nature of the dialogue between the heads of the two states is a powerful catalyst that gives strength to the further development of fraternal relations.

In recent years, the nature of Turkmen-Tajik relations has been developing dynamically, both countries have expressed similar or close positions on cooperation in solving topical issues of regional and international politics.

Political contacts at the highest level during the period of gaining independence have always been full of numerous official and working meetings of the leaders of the fraternal countries, the results of which largely determined the rhythm and dynamics of the development of bilateral relations. At the meetings of the heads of state, the most topical issues on the agenda of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation were substantively considered, priority areas for their further development were outlined.

In its foreign policy strategy, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the practical implementation of multilateral diplomacy: political, parliamentary, economic, energy, transport, water, scientific, medical, cultural, environmental and sports.

Turkmenistan also attaches particular importance to the expansion of Turkmen-Tajik inter-parliamentary relations, the progressive development of the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy, and further intensification of the exchange of experience in law-making activities. Promotion and coordination of the efforts of the parliamentarians of our countries on international and regional platforms occupy a significant place in strengthening effective interaction along the inter-parliamentary line.

At the governmental level, a lot of documents have been signed and are in force between the countries, which provide a legal basis for strengthening and further developing bilateral cooperation between countries in various fields. Each signed document is an additional opportunity not only for cooperation between government structures, but also broad opportunities for the peoples of the two states of Central Asia.

As it was noted, on international political platforms, both countries act with common positions on many issues within the framework of such authoritative organizations as the UN, OSCE, CIS, UNESCO, TRACECA. OIC and many others.

The current state of Turkmen-Tajik relations tends to gradually expand. There is a process of practical implementation of the mutual desire for closer multifaceted interaction in accordance with the potential and needs of the peoples.

It should be noted that trade between our countries is steadily growing every year. The main export goods of Turkmenistan are the products of the fuel and energy complex, oil products, agricultural products. Metal and products from it, household goods, dried fruits are imported. The current Dushanbe business forum is precisely aimed at intensifying ties between the economic entities of the two countries. The activity of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation contributes to the specification of the directions of the Turkmen-Tajik economic cooperation.

Turkmenistan and Tajikistan stand for the development and deepening of transport and logistics cooperation. Particular attention is paid to the creation of more favourable conditions for the organization of multimodal transportation of goods.

The cultural diplomacy actively pursued by independent neutral Turkmenistan is also bearing fruit and serves to expand multifaceted ties between the countries. A striking example of this is the wide Turkmen-Tajik exchanges in the humanitarian field. Both countries have held cross Days of Culture more than once. At the same time, the countries have great potential for developing relations in this direction.

Cooperation between the two countries is also carried out in the field of education. The practice of regular contacts between prominent figures of culture and science has been established. The comprehensive development of such ties is constantly in the focus of attention of the leaders of the two countries, and this is nothing but evidence of guaranteed good neighbourly development in conditions of mutual assistance and friendship.

Our countries have great potential for building up trade and economic relations. There is no doubt that the partnership will become much larger and will develop further on the basis of new agreements that will be reached following the current visit of the President of Turkmenistan to fraternal Tajikistan.
