The solemn event with participation of the deputies of National Parliament, representatives of ministries, departments and non-governmental organizations, heads of diplomatic missions, the UN agencies and other international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat on occasion of the 70th anniversary of the UN Children Fund.
Opening the meeting, Representative of the UNICEF in Turkmenistan Shaheen Nilofer noted that cooperating with the Governments, the UN Children Fund strives to that every child live in the atmosphere of good, care, love and understanding. Working with the Government of Turkmenistan, we did many things for the interests of children and we are proud of this, - Shaheen Nilofer highlighted.
The representatives of ministries of education, public health and medical industry, work and social protection of the population, National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights informed the participants on significant achievements of the country in the context of realization of the Convention on Children Rights. They mentioned that independent Turkmenistan was one of the first countries that joined the convention on Children Rights and to two Protocols, and the protection of the childhood is priority target of social policy of the State, which is realized according to the Law “On State Guarantees of Child Rights”. The representatives of the governmental structures highlighted that the programme cooperation with the UNICEF brings this activity to quality new level. Having congratulated the UNICEF, national partners of the
Children Fund noted that the Goals of sustainable development, adopted by the United Nations, open new opportunities for equal cooperation for the interest of children.
Permanent Coordinator of the UN in Turkmenistan Jasinta Barrins and the Head of the UN Regional Centre of Preventive Diplomacy in the Central Asia Petko Draganov also made congratulation speeches.
The students of the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan and International University of Humanitarian Sciences and Development addressed the participants of the solemn event. “Active cooperation with international organizations is a foundation for universal progress and stability” – the representatives of young generation highlighted.
