Turkmenistan takes part in CACCC-2023

On May 15-16, the 5th Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2023) is being held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.

Representatives of the ministries of economic development, environmental protection and ecology, water management, agriculture, energy, hydrometeorological services and other sectoral ministries of Central Asian countries are participating in CACCC-2023. Also invited are representatives of international organizations, multilateral development banks, the expert community, youth leaders, academic institutions, civil society organizations, water supply and energy companies, as well as business and media representatives.

The event will be broadcast online with the possibility of active participation and interaction of online participants.

During the conference, plenary sessions will be held, where stakeholders will discuss issues of interaction in the field of water and energy security, food and environmental agenda in the context of climate change in the Central Asian region. Conference participants will be informed about the progress of the countries of Central Asia in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation, relevant initiatives to achieve cross-sectoral climate resilience and available platforms for regional and international cooperation.

The day before, within the framework of the conference, a training was held for media representatives and journalists from the media projects of the Central Asian countries “Media and climate change: theory and practice”. The training was organized by the PROGREEN Trust Fund and CAREC with the financial support of the World Bank. The purpose of the training is to promote the professional growth of representatives of the media and media projects of the Central Asian countries in order to prepare high-quality and interesting materials for a wide audience on issues related to water, energy, food and environmental issues in the context of climate change in the Central Asian region and to ensure full coverage of this topic in the region and beyond.

Turkmenistan takes an active part in the implementation of the "green" agenda, the country is constantly improving the institutional framework, strengthening the national capacity to take measures to adapt and mitigate the effects of climate change, the development of "green" sectors of the economy.

CACCC-2023 was organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) within the framework of the projects "Program for Adaptation to Climate Change and Mitigation of its Consequences in the Aral Sea Basin Additional Financing" (CAMP4ASB AF)1, Water-Energy-Food Relationships (Nexus) with the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, PROGREEN and the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), a partnership between the World Bank, the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
