President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking online at the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said that for Turkmenistan, relations with the SCO are an important part of the strategy of international cooperation.

According to the Turkmen leader, the SCO member states and observer countries are long-standing traditional partners of Turkmenistan, its neighbors, friends, and therefore, Ashgabat considers the development of dialogue with the Organization in organic connection, both with the progressive course of bilateral cooperation and with the general orientation of its participation in global and regional processes. 

"In this context, we have great respect and interest for the SCO initiatives in the economic, investment, transport, energy and other spheres, we see good opportunities for our engagement in them on a mutually beneficial and long–term basis," the head of state stressed.

According to the President of Turkmenistan, the prospects of such work are due to the presence in Turkmenistan and the SCO countries of a powerful resource and production base, noticeable, especially in recent years, the development of transport logistics, communications, the acquired experience of partnership in bilateral and multilateral formats. 

"It is obvious that one can speak about the success of our economic cooperation only in conditions of ensuring lasting peace, stability and security. And Turkmenistan is ready for active cooperation with the SCO in the implementation of this most important dual task," President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
