Last week, for two days in Ashgabat, the participants of the seminar-meeting discussed topical issues of countering manifestations of terrorism and extremism, and also developed specific proposals for intensifying this activity in Central Asia.
The main organizer of the event was the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. This seminar was the fifth in a series of events held by the center within the framework of the Counterterrorism Early Warning Network for Central Asia.
Law enforcement officers of Turkmenistan, representatives of international organizations stationed in Ashgabat, as well as employees of the Scientific Centre for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan were invited to participate in the seminar.
Leading experts in this field (including in online format), employees of research institutes and centres, officials of individual international organizations made their reports and presentations to the participants of the event.
The discussion by specialists of topical issues of countering manifestations of terrorism made it possible to work out and develop additional measures for a timely response to emerging challenges and threats to the security of the region.
