Turkmen schoolchildren’s success at the International Zhautykov Olympiad in Almaty

400 young intellectuals from 15 world countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Serbia, Czech Republic, Romania, Mongolia, Bulgaria among others competed in the intellectual contests in mathematics, physics and computer science in Almaty on January 12-18.

The representatives of our country achieved one of the best team results, demonstrating the high level of knowledge in mathematics and physics. Tenth-grader Jepbar Asgarov (the State Boarding School for Gifted Children) and Resul Mamiyev (Specialized School No. 57, Ashgabat) received silver medals, Rahman Agamuradov, and Kemal Kochekov (Specialized School No. 57, Ashgabat) were awarded with bronze medals.


According to the head of the team, math teacher at the State Boarding School for Extra Talented Children Arslan Hodjiyev noted that the success in Almaty had continued the tradition of intellectual victories of Turkmen schoolchildren. For instance, it is the third medal for Jepbar Asgarov. He received his first silver medal at the International Junior mathematical competition in Belgrade. A bronze meadal was awarded to Jepbar at the 2016 International mathematical competition in Albania.

Rahman Agamuradov and Resul Mamiyev are the bronze winners of the 2015 competition in Belgrade. A bronze medal at the Zhautykov Olympiad in Almaty is the first international achievement for Kemal Kochekov.

The International Zhautykov Olympiad was initiated by the Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics Secondary Boarding School. The authoritative jury, including the representatives of Kazakhstan, scientists from M. Lomonosov Moscow State University and Moscow School of Physics and Engineering as well as Belarussian State University. The diplomas were signed by Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Erlan Sagadiyev.


A rich cultural and introductory programme was organized for the participants of the intellectual forum. Children visited the sight of Almaty and Medeu high-mountain sports complex that will host the 2017 Winter Student Games.

Schoolchildren also visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, where the closing ceremony of the 13th International Zhautykov Olympiad took place.
