The agenda of the forum that brought together heads and specialists of sectoral ministries and departments as well as businessmen from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan included a wide spectrum of issues related to bilateral relations, in particular political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Reaffirming the mutual interest of the two states in enhancing the efficient dialogue established between the two states, the commission members exchanged their views on the progress of implementation of earlier achieves agreements and discussed a number of specific measures on diversification of cooperation. The trade and economy, fuel and energy sector, industry and electric-power supply industry, agriculture and water industry, health care, education, science, sports and tourism were specified among the priority areas for cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the transport and communications sphere given the implementation of the joint project – the construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan railway – a new transport corridor that will promote the sustainable development of the region.

It was underlined the necessity to widen the range and volumes of goods supplied to the countries as well as the services provided, establish direct contacts between ministries and departments and enhance relations between business structures.

Emphasizing the exceptional productivity of the talks, the meeting participants expressed belief in that all specific steps discussed during the meeting would contribute to the intensification of multi-faceted interstate partnership.

The relevant protocol was signed on the outcomes of the meeting.
