XXI International Belarus Open Sambo Championship for the prizes of President Alexander Lukashenko is completed. Turkmen national team won another five medals – two gold, two silver and one bronze on the second day of the competitions.
On the day before, our compatriots won seven medals – four gold, one silver and two bronze, having provided first place in the total count. They won Russian team and the host of the tournament who shared the second place.
On the second day of competitions, number of medals of Turkmenistan team reached twelve where six of them are gold ones. It put our team on the third place in the total count. Our teams has the same number of gold medals as Russian team, which is on the second place.
It is worth mentioning the victory of Master of sports of international class, participant of 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Gulbadam Babamuratova. She had three confident victories; first, she won wrestler from Kazakhstan Gulnur Erbolova, after Belarusian sambo wrestler Alesya Mlechko and did not leave any chances to World Champion Marina Jarskaya from Belarus in the final.
Gulbadam successfully performs not only in sambo but also in judo and belt wrestling. She hold several victories in Grand Prix Japanese style tournaments before the Olympics in 2015 and 2016. She also won gold medal in belt wrestling at the World Students Games in Kazan in 2013. And now she is a gold winner of Belarus Open Championship.
Hurma Abdiyeva (up to 52 kg) won the bronze, having beaten the wrestler from Belarus.
Serdar Hojamuhammedov (up to 90 kg) brought another gold to collection of our team. Numerous winner of different world and continental tournaments confidently took over the wrestler form Belarus Pavel Masalskiy with 6:2 score.
Triple Asian Champion Kerim Allanurov, competing in sport sambo (up to 57 kg) won silver medal. In the final, he was defeated with minimum 0:1 score by sambo wrestler from Armenia Grigor Mkhitaryan. Finally, the fifth medal, the silver one, was won by Zafar Madaminov competeing in combat sambo fights above 100 kg.
The hosts of Belarus Open Tournament appreciated the skills and training level of our sportsmen and invited the coaches of national team, Honoured Coaches of Turkmenistan, brothers Nuryagdy and Muhammed Mammedov (sport version) as well as Master of Sports of International Class Alayi Niyazmengliyev (combat style) to participate in the award ceremony.
In March, the capital of Russian Federation Moscow will host another round of World Cup Tournament “Kharlampiyev Memorial” where our national team is participating.
