Turkmen weightlifters won three medals of the Asia Championship in Pyeongtaek, the Republic of Korea. Over 500 weightlifters from 35 countries of the continent competed for the medals in eight weight categories.
22-year-old international Mater of Sport Aman Meredov (under 77-kg weight category) won the bronze medals in the snatch 9144 kg) and in the clean and jerk combination (314 kg) leaving behind 18 sportsmen.
Umurbek Bazarbaev ranked the fifth in the jerk (151 kg), and as a result of two events won the fourth place (284 kg) taking the lead over 12 athletes.
The last year was successful for Turkmen weightlifters who won three quota places for the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the World Championship in Paris for the first time in the history of Turkmen box. Within the near future, our weightlifters will take part in the U20 Junior Championship in Guatemala and will be trained for the 2012 Olympic Games in Antalya.
