The National Championship of Turkmenistan in Karate takes place at the Galkynysh Sports Complex in Ashgabat. 22 teams from all regions of the country, including more than 260 sportsmen divided into four age categories – children’s, junior, cadet and adult compete for the title.
The competitions are organized by the State Committee for Tourism and Sports of Turkmenistan jointly with the National Center for Traditional Karate. Turkmen karatekas compete for 12 sets of awards in seven events, including individual kumite (single combat), individual and team kata (complex events), etc.
The National Championship of Turkmenistan will last till May 13. It will be an important stage of the preparations for large international tournaments. Turkmen karatekas will take part in the large international tournament in Sri-Lanka and the Asia Championship in India this summer.
