Turkmen women weightlifter Kristina Shermetova is a prize winner of two bronze medals of the Asian Tournament

The Asian Weightlifting Championship is continued in the Olympic village. Medals in two women weight categories were contested on the second day of the competitions, where Turkmenistan team won two bronze medals. Both prizes were taken by Kristina Shermetova performing in up to 53 kg weight category.



K. Shermetova lifted 104 kg weight in jerk discipline and had 182 kg in total count. The foster of Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Sariyev also beat her own record for 4 kg.

After the award ceremony, K. Shermetova said to TDH correspondent that it was old injury, caused her to forget the sports for two years, that prevented her to demonstrate better result in snatch. Numerous champion of the country came back to sports half year ago and still has not restored her previous shape.

She will take maximum efforts in her training during the remaining days until V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to make Turkmen fans happy and contest for the gold of 2017 Asian Games.

Chengzi Wei from China became an absolute winner in the weight category until 53 kg (three gold medals). Her results in clean and jerk combination made 200 kg – 88 kg in snatch and 112 kg in jerk. Supatra Kawehwong from Thailand won silver medal.



In the weight category up to 58 kg, not represented by our athletes, Xing Chun Kwo from Chinese Taipei took three gold medals. Her result was 241 kg (104 kg in snatch and 137 in jerk). Linglee Ow from China (219 kg) is the second and Su Kim (218 kg) from the People’s Democratic Korean Republic closed the three of the strongest.

Another two sets of medal – up to 69 kg men and up to 63 kg women, will be competed in the third day of the competitions on April 25.

Two other Asian Championship in kickboxing and swimming gathering the masters of these sports from several countries will start on April 26 in the capital Olympic village.
