The presentation of construction of the second turn of the Olympic Village took place at the assembly hall of the Ashgabat Khyakimlik. Occupying over 100-hectare area the grandiose complex that has no analogues in the region will host the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017.
As is known, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who declares development of physical culture, health-improving movement and the sport of high achievements as a priority of the state policy of Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening the health of the nation, bringing the physically strong and spiritually rich young generation, initiated construction of the Olympic Village in the Turkmen capital.
During the recent meeting of the cabinet of ministers of Turkmenistan the Turkmen leader signed the Resolution “On construction of the second turn of the complex of buildings and facilities of the Olympic Village”. The document envisages construction of a complex of sports facilities using the most advanced engineering and technological means given the latest achievements of the architectural art. Among them are indoor track and field complex, and water complex designed for 5,000 places, outdoor water complex and aqua park, indoor tennis court with seats designed for 4,000 spectators, a hotel for 450 visitors , cultural center, outdoor tennis courts, ring cycle tracks, ring tracks, outdoor and underground car park, and a number of other facilities.
Signing the Resolution “On construction of the second turn of the complex of buildings and facilities of the Olympic Village”, the Turkmen leader noted that the forthcoming 2017 Asian Games would become one of the brightest and the most spectacular events of the national calendar and the world significance as well. The fact that the Central Asian region was chosen to host these competitions for the first time testifies to that the Turkmen capital has proved itself as an active organizer and participant of the international Olympic movement.
Representatives of the Ashgabat Khyakimlik, various institutions, and enterprises of the Turkmen capital, public organisations, sportsmen, coaches, the elders and students attended the ceremony. The models of sports facilities were located on the walls of the assembly hall, and monitor installed in the center of the hall demonstrated various objects of the future Olympic Village.
