Another Turkmen sportswoman will represent our country at the 2012 Olympic Games. Following boxers Serdar Hudayberdyev and Nursahat Pazzyev, who successfully performed at the Asia Tournament in Astana, repeated Swimming Champion of Turkmenistan Jennet Saryeva won the right to take part in the Olympic Games in London. Executive Director of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Cornel Markulesku formed about it in his letter addressed to the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan.
18-year-old sportswoman coached by Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan, senior coach of the national team Sergey Epifanov will take part in the main adult competitions held once in four years for the first time. Two years ago she made a debut at the first Junior Olympic Games in Singapore setting a personal 100 meter freestyle record – 1 minute 14.67 sec.
Today, no one can match student of the National Institute of Sport and Tourism J. Saryeva in freestyle, swimming backstroke and complex swimming among women. She took part in the XVI Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in 2010, three last World Championships in Rome (2009), Dubai (2010) and Shanghai (2011). Last year, at the World Championship in China J. Saryeva broke her personal 400 meter freestyle record in 20 seconds swimming the distance in 5 minutes 41.09 sec. She will compete in the 400 meter freestyle distance in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Thus, the number of our sportsmen to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games has increased. Turkmen sportsmen will represent our country at the XXX Summer Olympic Games in weightlifting, box, women’s judo, athletics and swimming among men and women. The final membership of the national team of Turkmenistan will be announced soon.
