Turkmenistan’s Athletes Won 169 Medals in the First Four Months of 2026

During the period from January to April 2026, athletes from Turkmenistan won a total of 169 medals at international competitions. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov at a government meeting reviewing the country’s socio-economic development over the first four months of the year.

In April alone, Turkmenistan’s national teams added 46 medals to the country’s tally. In addition, a large-scale cycling event was held in Ashgabat to mark World Health Day. Cultural and sporting events were also organized in Arkadag city and across the velayats of the country. To commemorate this year’s national motto, “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” a series of scientific and practical conferences, along with various other events, were held throughout the country.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that special attention should continue to be given to ensuring the effective operation of the sectors of science, education, healthcare, and sports. He also highlighted the importance of continuously improving the work of medical institutions and making efficient use of sports facilities. Furthermore, particular emphasis was placed on the need to provide young people with a modern education and to raise the younger generation with a broad outlook and strong knowledge of innovative technologies.
