The Turkmen state institute of physical education and sports held an awards ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the 15th National spartakiad, held under the motto «Turkmenistan – a country of high spirit and health».
A large-scale sports forum, dedicated to the year «Independent, neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses», brought together thousands of participants across the country. The competition involved schoolchildren, students, employees of ministries, departments and law enforcement agencies.
Based on the results of the competition, winners were determined in each category.
The Ashgabat team won among comprehensive schools in competitions in 11 sports. Secondary vocational educational institutions competed in 13 disciplines. The team from the Ashgabat agro-industrial secondary vocational school emerged as the best here.
The Universiade program had the largest number of competitions, with participants – students from the higher education institutions of the country – competing in 21 sports. As expected, the team from the Turkmen state institute of physical education and sports had no equal in this nomination.
Employees of the Ministry of internal affairs of Turkmenistan took the top spot in competitions across nine sports among military and law enforcement agencies.
The team from the Ministry of construction and architecture took first place in the competition among ministries and industry departments in 8 disciplines. And in the interregional competition in 9 sports, the Ashgabat team once again emerged as the strongest.
On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the winning teams were presented with certificates of honour, cups, medals, and commemorative gifts. The event was attended by representatives of public organisations, heads of sports departments, coaches, students, and the media.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by demonstration performances by young athletes from the Ashgabat Main directorate of physical culture and sports, who demonstrated their high level of skill in various sports.
The next, XVI All-National spartakiad will start in October of this year and will last until April of next year.
