The closing ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the United States and a joint concert of artists of the two countries took place in Albuquerque, the largest city of New Mexico, a twin city of Ashgabat.

The first week of winter when the cultural forum took place was filled with the warmth of friendly meetings and the bright colours of cultural events held in three large cities of the United States - Washington, New York and Albuquerque. The Turkmen delegation that visited the friendly country on the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan consisted of over 80 representatives of culture, science, arts and media of our country.

Great attention of the public in the United States to the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan testifies to the interest of the American society in modern Turkmenistan, the growing international prestige of our country and its leader.

Along with the artistic aspect, the programme of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the United States included business meetings and professional contacts between scientists of the two countries, museum specialists, artists, musicians, art groups and university lecturers. The meetings provided a platform for discussing the aspects of cooperation in the use of advanced technologies, the work on the project of a virtual museum of Turkmenistan, exchange of art exhibitions and conservation of invaluable artefacts, etc.

The members of the Turkmen delegation were received at the U.S. Department of State where they discussed the approaches to fostering a humanitarian dialogue in the context of dynamically developing multifaceted Turkmen-American cooperation. The opening ceremony of the exhibition of fine and applied arts of Turkmenistan took place at the Meridian International Centre in Washington, the World Monuments Fund, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.

The exhibitions representing the applied and fine arts and the publishing industry of our country were held in Washington and New York. The members of the Turkmen delegation had an opportunity to visit the major museums in three American cities and learned about their historical and architectural landmarks.

It is not by chance that the closing ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the United States took place in Albuquerque, the twin city of the Turkmen capital. This status allows our cities to promote fruitful contacts in various spheres, particularly in education, culture and sport, and exchange specialists and art delegations. These themes were a focus of the meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the managers of the Department of Culture and the Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation at the Albuquerque City Hall.

A concert of friendship at the Hyatt Hotel brought together Turkmen and American artists on the one stage. An exhibition of the art of fine and applied arts of Turkmenistan was some kind of prologue to the concert. The stirring dance and musical rhythms, the original theatrical sketches, the bright costumes of musicians, singers and dancers created an unforgettable atmosphere of the art festival.

The audience rewarded the Turkmen soloist with the storm of applause for the brilliant performance of the song I Could Have Danced All Night from well-known Frederick Loewe’s musical My Fair Lady. The students of the Turkmen National Conservatoire presented a musical present - Ragtime by the notable American pianist, composer and founder of this genre Joplin Scott. The joint performance of the ancient Kushtdepdi dance added bright colours to the friendly atmosphere of the concert.
