Dialogue in the sphere of culture

The ceremony of opening of a cultural event organized jointly by the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of our country took place in the President Hotel in Ashgabat. The presentation of the Japanese art of flower arrangement - ikebana and art of painting - sumi-e will be in Ashgabat within the framework of the cultural event. The action is an important element of the Turkmen-Japanese dialogue which is actively developing in the humanitarian sphere and aimed at enhancing the mutual understanding between the friendly people, widening their knowledge about each other.


The heads and representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the citizens of the Turkmen capital, the workers of culture and art, students, the representatives of the diplomatic representations and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as numerous admirers of the Japanese culture attended the ceremony.

The Charge d'Affairs of Japan in Turkmenistan greeted the participants and guests to the solemn ceremony.

Upon completion of the solemn ceremony of opening of the event, Professor of the So-Katoku Institute of Ikenobo and the sumi-e ink wash painting art– Mrs. Midori Yamada and her colleague - Professor, President of the Moscow Branch of the Institute of Ikenobo Galina Davidenko demonstrated the ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement.


For more than twenty years Mrs. Midory Yamada has performed an important mission making peoples closer to each other through culture. Within the framework of the cultural event in Ashgabat, Professor Midori Yamada demonstrated the art of flower arrangement to the students of D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages.

The programme of the cultural event will last at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages till February 27. The senior students of the Department of Eastern Languages and Literature studying the Japanese language will take part in the declamation contest on February 28.
