On November 21, XXXII meeting of Permanent Council of TURKSOY and solemn events devoted to the closing of the year “Kazan – cultural capital of Turkic world” announced by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) in 2014, as well as official transfer of this status to the administrative center of Mary province of Turkmenistan was held in Kazan.
Prime Minister of Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Halikov, General Director of TURKSOY Dusanbai Kaseinov, as well as Ministers of culture of member countries of the Organization – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Turkmenistan took part in the meeting.
Resulting information about conducted events within the framework of Program “Kazan – cultural capital of Turkic world - 2014” has been presented at the meeting. It was also announced about transfer of the status of capital of Turkic world – 2015 to the Turkmen city Mary. In this connection, it was approved the Plan of cultural events to be held in next year in Mary with participation of creative groups and delegations from brotherly countries. In particular, the program envisages the organization of scientific forums, concerts of popular variety and folk performers, exhibition of works of fine and decorative-applied arts, photo vernisages, theatrical and film demonstrations, writers’ symposiums, practical seminars for workers of institutions of the sphere of culture and many others. Traditional creative actions under the aegis of TURKSOY - the open air of artists, meetings of sculptors, photo masters, workers of theatre from countries of TURKSOY, international forum of museum studies, congress of literary journalists and others will be held in Mary as well.
Temporal coordinator of TURKSOY became the head of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan within 2015. Upon completion of this period, it is planned to hold in Mary of a regular XXXIII meeting of International Organization of Turkic World. Within the framework of current solemn actions in Kazan, gala concert of II International television song contest “Turkvision-2014” was held on the stage of “Tatneft-arena” complex. It became the finale of events of closing of the year “Kazan – cultural capital of Turkic world - 2014”. Prior to the final of song contest, it was held solemn ceremony during which Kazan conveyed the symbols of the cultural capital to the city-successor Mary chosen by the ministers of TURKSOY: President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnihanov handed the pennant of the cultural capital of Turkic world to the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan.
Singer from Turkmenistan Zuleikha Kakayeva was distinguished with special prize for preservation of national ethnic elements in modern music at the contest “Turkvision”.
